PPGBA has two research lines: Systematic and Animal Biology and Morphophysiology and Animal Pathophysiology. Altogether, mentors act in many areas including entomology, pathology, reproductive pathophysiology, animal reproduction and parasitology, in addition to studies about taxonomy, ecology and natural history of helminths, aquatic microcrustaceans, parasitic crustaceans, osteichthyes, anuran amphibians, snakes, birds and mammals. The course has a concentration area in Zoology, being part of the Biodiversity assessment area of CAPES. It is classified with 3 concept.
PPGBA has as objectives qualify professors and/or researchers in all different areas of animal biology. Aditionally the program intend to encourage integrated training, providing reasearch developments, field classes and participation in projects from different research groups, according to each of the student’s interest.
